- Applicants must satisfy the following criteria to be eligible for the KAS-SAIIA Master’s Scholarship:
- You must be an African citizen.
- A bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from a recognized university is required.
- Applicants must be passionate about human rights and political problems.
- Applicants must be actively involved in volunteer activities and have a favourable attitude toward democracy.
- Demonstrate a solid academic record as well as relevant research experience.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the growth of Africa’s sociopolitical and economic environment.
- A letter of recommendation/endorsement from one of your current professors for admission to a Masters Program.
- Prove competency in English, the language of instruction for the majority of programs.
- Any successful candidate may be asked to demonstrate proof of enrollment or acceptance to a Master’s course beginning in 2024 at one of the following institutions: Wits, UCT, or Stellenbosch University.
- Successful candidates will get an official ‘offer’ email and must respond within 14 days of receipt, either accepting or rejecting the offer.
- If you do not react within 14 days, the scholarship offer may be revoked and redistributed. Scholarships are given out depending on predetermined qualifying conditions.
- To get your scholarship, you must fulfil the qualifying conditions. The eligibility conditions for each award are specified on our website’s scholarship page.
- All candidates must be under 30 years old.

Prospective applicants must complete an online application form available on the KAS and SAIIA websites.
