1. Students must initially qualify for a Russell M. Nelson Scholarship or a Heritage Scholarship. Brigham Young University—the Russell, also offers both scholarships. M. Nelson is the most prestigious scholarship in the institution, and it is awarded to students who show strong academic intelligence.
However, academic qualifications are not the only yardstick for a student’s eligibility. Nelson Scholarship or the Heritage Scholarship will be considered for admission if they have selected Brigham Young University as their first choice and were not chosen by the National Merit or sponsored by any corporation, Brigham Young University will then select them as a National Merit scholar.
It is very important to note that students who are selected or sponsored by National Merit or a corporation would not be eligible for Brigham Young University National Merit scholarship.
2. Students must also show a strong financial need. This is one of the requirements for getting this scholarship, as academic qualifications are not the only requirements. After the list has been sent to National Merit scholarship Brigham Young University 2023-2024, the institution would carefully make its selections based on the student’s academic and moral excellence together with their financial need.
3. Students are also expected to submit an essay stating clearly their aims, ambitions, and reasons for their application. The writing and submission of the essay would be strictly in accordance with the University’s requirements.

Student’s scholarship benefits would be determined by Free Application for Federal Student Aid( FAFSA). The National Merit scholarship Brigham Young University 2023-2024 pays full member tuition for eight semesters. The $500 basic National Merit stipend is part of full tuition. Students do not receive an extra payment.
